Growing up in a lush green suburb of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Waiwai developed a love for nature especially plants at a young age nurtured by her mother who's a keen gardener. She also discovered that drawing came naturally to her and plants often became her subjects.
Waiwai was first introduced to the world of botanical art while working and living in Hong Kong. She began experimenting on her own through reference books during her free time. When she relocated to Singapore, she completed a diploma course provided by the Society of Botanical Artists (UK). Waiwai graduated with a distinction and also received the Award of Excellence for obtaining the highest marks in the history of the course at the time.
Waiwai now spends her time between Copenhagen, Denmark and Singapore. Her clients include private collectors, the Singapore Botanic Gardens, the Singapore Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Singapore Airlines amongst others.
Currently, Waiwai is working on several art projects including a commission by the Singapore Botanic Gardens to illustrate the covers of 14 volumes of the Flora of Singapore publication.
Waiwai works in both watercolour and graphite. Please write to waiwai.hove@gmail.com for commissioning enquiry.
